Reinforcements have arrived

...to reinforce the terraces and repair the damage.  My cousin from Holland has been with us for almost 2 weeks now and staying for another 2 months to help with clearing up the damage caused by the landslides.  Much needed support.  So far we have built some supports such as this one:

... built an additional cold frame:

constrcuted a raised bed, which we have planted with various brassica:

Daytime temperatures have been quite spring-like and we are making good progress.  Next week the first instalment of spring sowing will get under way and things are looking a lot brighter than a month ago.

I'm so happy for you Heiko, how nice to have some help with all your projects and storm repair. I liked the way you are fixing the damaged areas and how great to have another cold frame.

And sun, you finally have some sunshine.:)

A grand start, and what a lovely feeling to get back in the growing groove again.

Things do look brighter for you now! It is a great use for old car tyres.

Angela, worksome is not a word as far as I am aware, but yes he's a real Godsend and we pick the tyres up from skips and suchlike.

Sister, thanks for the compliments and the award. I'll post about it in the next few days. You won't get our brother to do it though. He even refused the knickerbocker carrot award that I created specially for him!

Contadina and Larica, yes things are lokking much better. I have a good feeling for this year.

Those cold frames are very nice.

I'm catching up with you. What a mess thre mud has made, but it looks as though you're making progress. Your terraces are very steep!

Heiko said...

Thanks meemsync. The coldframes have been built from recycled materails only.

Hi me (change of name!) welcome back. These terraces are steep. We have 18 narrow terraces with height difference from top to bottom of about 100 feet.

Great news that you have some long term help around to help you out after the disastrous winter you have had. This sunshine we have been enjoying has helped as well I imagine.
